Catherine “Kitty” Treacy (nee Lee) was 93 when she died peacefully at home in Bloomfield,
NJ., on Saturday Sept.16,2023.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in her memory at Saint Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Bloomfield, on Wednesday Sept.20th at 10am. (via a live link https://www.youtube.com/live/yPKd5C37yEE?si=Xt2M2XeOBg3OaawB )
Visitation will be on Tuesday Sept. 19th from 4pm-8pm at
Halpin-Bitecola Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield, NJ.
Born in Arklow, County Wicklow, Ireland to Annie(Nee Brown) and Edward Lee in 1929. Kitty worked in the offices of The Arklow Pottery, in their bookkeeping department. In 1953 Kitty immigrated by ship to New York. Kitty was employed by the Nacirema Operating Co, a Stevedore Shipping organization in Manhattan.
In 1960, Kitty married Daniel “Donal” Treacy, a shipwright carpenter who was also a native of
Arklow Co, Wicklow. After living in New York and Arklow they settled in Glen Ridge, NJ in 1971 where they raised their family. In 2001 they moved to Bloomfield, NJ.
Kitty and Dan were parishioners at St. Thomas the Apostle since 1971.
Kitty was a stay at home mother to her four children. Her children attended St. Thomas elementary school, where she was an active volunteer and familiar face for decades, as some of her grandchildren also attended STA. Kitty was a member of the County Wicklow Association from 1953 where she and Dan both served in leadership roles.
Kitty was the beloved wife of 53 years to Dan who predeceased her in 2013. She was also predeceased by her sibllings Jack Lee, Mary O'Hickey (nee Lee) and Eamon Lee. Kitty was a devoted
mother to Mary Anne Treacy-Ryan and husband Timothy, Andrew Treacy and wife Maha, Keva
Treacy, Eoin Treacy and wife Moira. Kitty was a loving, cherished grandmother to Conor, Morrin, Jillian and husband John Altieri, Daire, Owen and wife Jessica Tucker, Daniel, Declan, Christopher, Donagh, Niav, Tiernan, Ciara, Emmett, Caelinn, and Ella. Kitty was a doting great-grandmother to Valentina and Vincent.
Kitty was a force of nature and left a lasting impact on many lives including numerous nieces and nephews and dear family friends.
