Kathleen R. Barlow, lovingly known as "Kay", touched the lives of many with her warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family. She was born on February 13, 1932, in Newark, NJ, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Robinson. Kathleen peacefully passed away at home on February 23, 2024.
Kay's legacy was one of selfless love and boundless kindness. She dedicated over twenty-five years of her life working as a legal secretary for Ferguson and Gille in Upper Montclair before retiring at the age of 83. A graduate of Mt St Dominic Academy in 1949, Kathleen continued her education at Newark University teaching school.
Among her proudest accomplishments were her work for the bureau in the 1950s and sharing unforgettable experiences while living in Texas with her beloved husband, William Barlow Jr., who preceded her in death.
Kathleen's warm persona and nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life. She had a passion for bringing joy to others through gatherings with family that celebrated holidays and birthdays. Kay cherished moments spent with nieces, nephews, children, and grandchildren on trips to Long Beach Island, creating cherished memories filled with laughter and love.
In her leisure time, Kathleen found solace in the pages of a good book, often accompanied by her hobbies of knitting and cooking. Her generous nature earned her endearing titles like "mom," "Nana," and friend to many.
Leaving behind a legacy of love are her surviving family members: Bill Barlow (son), Donna Weir Barlow (daughter-in-law), Allene Barlow (daughter), Kayla Plowman (granddaughter), Matthew Calella (grandson-in-law), Gwendelyn Plowman (granddaughter), Abigail Plowman (granddaughter), Adeline Rose (great-granddaughter), Kyle Barlow (grandson), AnnMarie Barlow (granddaughter-in-law), Rosalie Grace (great-granddaughter), Alyssa Barlow (granddaughter), as well as Susan Robinson (sister).
A Memorial Service honoring Kathleen R. Barlow's life will be held on February 27, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM at Halpin-Bitecola-Brookdale Funeral & Cremation Services located at 1284 Broad St., Bloomfield, NJ. The service will be a testament to a life well-lived and deeply cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing Kay. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen's memory can be made to the Bloomfield Fire Department, 375 Franklin St, Bloomfield, NJ 07003 (973-680-4153)
