Kathleen Patterson, a Fairfield resident since 1963, passed away on June 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was 81.
Born in Nutley, and a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. She was a leader of both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, and also a catechist at St. Thomas More. Prior to marriage, she worked for United Steel, and retired from Prudential in Fairfield, NJ.
Kathleen is survived by; her four children;Debbie Patterson-Krulik and her husband Darryl, David Patterson, Heather Sopov and her husband Risto, and Tara Patterson. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Alexis and Gillian Wendowski, Morgan and Brenna Sopov, Brandon and Erin Mah, her great-grandchildren; Jeremy, Dylan, Diegan, and Trinity. She also leaves behind her sister Maureen Vetro, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was predeceased by her husband David Patterson, her parents Jeremiah and Mary, her brother Eugene, and sisters; Geraldine Nevins, Mary Germann, Sally Schifter, and Barbara Ross.
Friends and family may visit Halpin – Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad St, in Bloomfield, on Monday June 5th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, June 6th, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Ave, in Bloomfield, with interment to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
