Marie Patricia Horn, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in her family home, surrounded by loved ones. She suffered from Alzheimers for the few last years of her life and that, along with complications from a recent stroke, was how she ended her journey.
Marie is remembered and loved by her four beautiful daughters June (George) Mauro, Judy Horn, Janice (Raymond) Melillo, and Jodi (Patrick) Kelleher; 13 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her dear husband, William Edward Horn who passed in 1987.
Marie was born in Montclair on June 1, 1933 to parents Helen and Frank Keckeissen. She graduated from Bloomfield High School and started a career in banking which she later returned to after raising her four daughters with William Horn. Marie was an active member in the St. Thomas Church Community, a lover of theatre, travel, and spending time with her close friends and ever growing family. Although Marie cherished her time at home with her beloved slippers, she was always up for a party or a trip to Seaside Park.
Marie lived her life with a kindness that radiated from her, generosity without bounds, and a sharp sense of humor that could lighten any situation. Those who knew Marie, knew that the traditions she created with her daughters, and their children in turn, meant the world to her. A true matriarch, she not only watched her grandchildren grow up, but actively supported and shared in their achievements.
Grandma Horn, as she was known, had a song for any occasion and made sure the cookie jar was always full. If there’s one thing we knew, she truly loved her family “a bushel and a peck.”
In lieu of flowers, the family of Marie Horn kindly ask donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/ and
