Rosalind Preston Westcott Michel

October 18, 1940 — July 1, 2023

Succasunna

Rosalind Preston Westcott Michel, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2023 at her home in Succasunna. Born October 18,1940 in Orange, NJ to Doris and Harold Westcott, Rosalind’s selfless and generous heart touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rosalind attended The Beard School in Orange NJ (now Morristown-Beard School) before graduating from Glen Ridge High School in 1958. She had a true passion for tennis and paddle tennis where she displayed great prowess and sportsmanship on the court. In quieter moments, she could be found playing piano, doing needlepoint, sketching with pastels or immersed in the pages of a book.

Rosalind’s fondest memories revolved around her role as a devoted mother to her three children and later to her grandchildren as their “number one fan.” On any given day you would find her cheering them on at a horse show, tennis match or dance competition. The joy she experienced in supporting their growth and accomplishments brought immense happiness to her life.

Rosalind is survived by her daughter Hilary and her husband Angelo Cocozziello, son Brett and his wife Elissa, daughter Samantha DePalma and her husband David. She also leaves behind her five treasured grandchildren Christian DePalma and his wife Celeste, Haleigh DePalma, Molly Michel, Ian Michel and Liza Cocozziello. Rosalind’s legacy lives on through the love shared by them.

In addition to immediate family, Rosalind is survived by her brother-in-law John Michel and his wife Dr. Berit Midelfort, her nieces Elin Michel-Midelfort and Siri Michel-Midelfort, and nephews Jarl Michel-Midelfort and Jan Michel-Midelfort.

A private family burial service will be held at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan, NJ.

Rosalind’s passing leaves a deep void in the lives of all who knew her. She taught us the value of resilience, unwavering generosity, kindness, and most importantly unconditional love. May she now rest in peace as we carry forward her memory with gratitude and love.
