Obituary

Michele M. "Micki" Comasco (ne Sitarski), 66, of Bloomfield, peacefully entered into eternal rest with the spectacular sunrise on February 9, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at home. Micki arrived on Fathers Day, June 17, 1956, the third daughter of Edward and Veronica Sitarski. Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, she graduated from Holy Family Academy in 1974. From there she went on to work for Hudson County social services for several years. Micki met the love of her life down the shore (one of her favorite places in the world) and married Lawrence F. "Larry" Comasco on September 2, 1978. Together they built his business in Bloomfield and had three children before Larrys tragic passing from cancer in 1989, leaving Micki as a young widow. Her resilience and tenacity as a mother were unmatched in raising her children alone and she was always present at their school events and volunteered often, whether as class parent or softball coach. Her unconditional support carried well into their adult years and her unwavering faith, unfiltered opinions and advice will never be forgotten. When she felt her children were old enough, Micki returned to work as a teaching assistant at Edgemont Montessori School in Montclair and then also the YMCA after-care program until her retirement. She always had a soft spot for children with special needs and disabilities and had many fun-loving and memorable years with her colleagues and students, often sharing amusing stories from her day at the dinner table. Micki absolutely loved to dance anywhere and embodied the phrase "dance like no one is watching." A favorite pastime was to go on long walks in and around her neighborhood or really anywhere she was. She had a witty, unique sense of humor, was creative in anything she did or made, and loved to bake and host parties. Some of her fondest memories were in her home and backyard with loved ones. She was very proud of the legacy of countless children who learned to swim during the summers at her house in the pool her husband built. A loyal and compassionate friend, Micki was always willing help someone in need with her kindness and generous spirit. All of the good times over the years with her family, close friends, and her kids friends were one of her greatest sources of joy and laughter. For more than 25 years, Micki bravely faced and fought recurring meningioma brain tumors. Anchored in her faith and hope, she was an absolute warrior and an inspiration to all in the face of such adversity, defying medical odds time and time again in a relentless pursuit of optimal health and the sheer will to live. Her family wishes to express their immense gratitude for all of the prayers over the decades as well as the exceptional care and life-sustaining treatments and interventions she received since 2012 from the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff with NYUs Neurosurgery, Epilepsy, and Cancer Center teams. Micki was predeceased by her cherished husband Larry Comasco, beloved parents Veronica and Edward Sitarski Sr, and dear brothers Edward Jr and David Sitarski. She is survived by her daughter Jamichelle and her husband Mark Millson, sons Larry and Nicholas Comasco, sisters Francine (Edward) Bernier, Anne Marie Abercrombie and Celeste Sitarski, many special nephews and niece, several great-nieces and nephews and also her adored grand-dogs and faithful companions Holly, Sierra, and Otis. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those who knew and loved her. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from the Halpin-Bitecola Funeral Home, 1284 Broad St, Bloomfield NJ on Friday, February 17th at 8:30am. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 9:30am. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 16th from 4-8pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mickis honor to The National Brain Tumor Society in support of brain tumor research and her courageous journey. Micki, There are no words to express the feelings in my broken heart as I try to imagine life without you. Throughout our lives we have experienced so many happy and also sad times. Together we enjoyed the happy times and supported each other thru the difficult and sad times. You absolutely rocked your brain tumor journey and I was so privileged to have been able to be there with you. You were always so courageous, strong, and positive thru it all. You had an amazing will to fight to live over 25 plus years. I am sure as you look down from above that you are extremely proud of Jami, Larry and Nicholas. Their love for you showed in the way they cared for you and your services were beautiful. You did a great job raising them Micki. I will always love and miss you! Until we meet again rest in heavenly peace my beautiful sister. Watch over all of us. Fran 💔😔😇☕️☕️
