Sophie Dorward

Sophie Dorward passed away peacefully on December 9, 2022. She was 93. She was the wife of the late John Dorward (1979), and daughter of the late Stephen and Julia Toth, of Northampton, PA. She was predeceased by sisters Margaret, Agnes, Rosie and brothers Steve and John. Sophie is survived by her son James and his wife Susan; son John and his wife Etelka; granddaughters, Samantha, Brianna, Julia; grandsons, Brian and Kevin. Sophie was a resident of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ for nearly 60 years, only recently moving to the CareOne Assisted Living facility in Parsippany NJ , three years ago. Mrs. Dorward worked for many years at Western Electric both in PA and NJ, stopping to raise a family and then returning to the work force years later with various jobs in the food service industry. She worked locally at Chicken Delight in Hasbrouck Heights N.J. and Dunkin Doughnuts in Little Ferry N.J. In her retirement, she was able to pursue her greatest passion- babysitting. She spent many years nurturing and teaching many young kids including her own grandchildren. Mrs. Dorward was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. Friends and family may visit from 2-5 pm, Sunday December 18th at Halpin-Bitecola Funeral home, located at 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield NJ 07003. A grave side service will be held at 12 noon, Monday December 19 at Grandview Cemetery, 2735 Walbert Ave, Allentown, PA 18104. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made in Sophie's name to the Brookdale Reformed church steeple fund.
