Rolando Carandang

Rolando Carandang, 75, of Lipa, Philippines, resided in Bloomfield, NJ, passed away on September 2, 2021, in Teaneck, NJ. Funeral service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 9:30AM. Visitation will be held at Halpin-Bitecola Funeral Home on Monday and Tuesday, September 6th and 7th from 4-8PM. Halpin-Bitecola Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. Rolando was born in Lipa City, Philippines to Lorenzo Carandang and Marta Aranda Carandang on June 3, 1946. He went to Mabini Elementary School and Lipa High School. From there, he went on to earn a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from University of Santo Tomas. He retired from Metro North Railroad after working as an engineer for 17 years. Rolando enjoyed playing golf, Sudoku and spending time with his family and close friends. He was involved in the Philippine Golf Association of NY and the Filipino Golf Association. Rolando is survived by his wife, Rose Austria Carandang; children, Ramil and Eva Carandang, Renee and Gaspar Clacer, and Roland and Maeann Carandang; siblings, Oren Garcia, Ramon Carandang, Concordia Magsino, Antonio Carandang; grandchildren, Noah, Hudson, Finlay and Ellis, Justin; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo Carandang and Marta Aranda Carandang, and siblings Ruperto Carandang, Nano Carandang and Maria Lipat. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Memorial Sloan Kettering and Holy Name hospice care.
