Obituary
Patrick J. Dilworth, 51, of Saddle Brook NJ, formerly of Paramus NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21st after an almost 2 year courageous battle with Glioblastoma. Patrick was the cherished husband of Jo Dilworth (nae Van Cleaf) and loving, devoted father of Kayla Dilworth, the beloved son of Edward Dilworth and the late Eileen Dilworth, treasured brother of Marie Baragona and her husband Anthony of Pompton Lakes, Ed Dilworth and his wife Cindy of Maywood, their children Caiden and Sedona, and Eileen Brattole and her husband Joey of Bloomingdale. Patrick also leaves behind cherished cousins and extended family, many of which reside in Ireland, and countless dear friends. He was also a wonderful dad to his beloved cat Maemae and dog Kaiser whom had unfortunately passed away only recently. Patrick cherished his family above all else and worked tirelessly prior to his diagnosis to help provide for his wife and daughter, whom he loved immeasurably. He so enjoyed spending quality time with them whether it was a getaway to the country or the beach, Sunday bike rides in the park, or Harry Potter marathons and hot chocolate on a winter night. Moments like those he held dear to his heart. Spending time with his parents, siblings and their spouses, his niece and nephew, cousins and other extended family with whom he shared such close and beautiful bonds brought such joy to his heart. His circle of friends was extremely wide and he was loved by us all in a profoundly deep way. A man of many interests, Patrick enjoyed all things music, sports, optics, and beer. He was an optician at Lenscrafters for over 26 years and was extremely passionate about his work. He loved his field and giving people the gift of sight. Anyone who knew Patrick also knew his immense love of music that he enthusiastically shared with others, especially his daughter, and his giant eclectic music collection that he was so proud of. He had a passion for discovering new craft beers and enjoying them in the company of others. He was also an avid, loyal sports fan particularly of the Yankees, Rangers, and the Miami Dolphins. His collection of tshirts, jerseys and memorabilia tell that story well. High amongst his faovrite pastimes was playing softball with his team, Teehans Brew, for many years. The comradery shared with this incredible group of teammates was truly remarkable and a source of great pleasure in his life. What Patrick was most known for was his kind-hearted and selfless nature and his ability to see the good in everyone. He touched the hearts of countless people and even on the toughest of days, his smile would light up a room. He was a remarkable human being and a role model to so many. He will always be remembered for his stellar personality, huge heart and the very bright light he added to this world and so many in it. If love couldve saved him he would still be with us. There are no words for how much he will be missed. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 4th from 3 to 7 pm at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home in Bloomfield. See brookdalefh.com for a virtual service at 4 pm. Inurnment will be held privately at Glendale Cemetary in Bloomfield, NJ. I first met Pat Dilworth through his cousin Pat Hammer at a Wild Angels (Pat H's long ago writing group sponsored by the Congregation of Saint Saviour at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine) reading event. After the event, the three of us plus our buddy Sandy Schubert went to get drinks and french fries at a French bistro near the Cathedral. We talked and laughed so much at the restuarant and the drive to the Queens to drop Sandy and me off at home. I had so much fun that night and fortunately, we got to the repeat the group adventure a couple of more times long before Pat D. got sick.
I will miss you Pat D. RIP.
Prayers to Jo and Kayla.

Back when Pat was at Seton Hall and I attended William Paterson, I started dj-ing for the college station. Immediately I called Patty Boy and asked him to cohost. We were like kids in a candy store as we looked at a 20 foot wall from floor to ceiling for their record library. From the first record we spun, it was laughs and insanity on “Oak Leaves over Paris”. Don’t ask me where we came up with this name, but I grin every time I say it. We played loads of new tunes, did strange segues, and even gave away the dirty ashtray to my 74 VW Beetle to a caller who got our trivia question right. There were Python Bits, the psychedelic set, and special guests galore on what was billed as “the loudest show on the radio.” For 2 years, we pulled it off and I don’t think WPC radio will ever be the same. Such great times. Such a special dude. Love you, Pat! Jef Schilp
