Irene K. Douglass, 79, of Little Egg Harbor Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025. Born in Newark, NJ, on August 1, 1945, she was the cherished daughter of the late Michael and Theresa (Shamolskie) Krepel.
Irene was a devoted wife to the late Harry Douglass, with whom she shared a loving marriage from November 8, 1969, until his passing. They lived in Glen Ridge, NJ where they raised their beloved son Michael. Michael was everything to both Irene and Harry, and their bond was one of a kind.
Her professional life was marked by dedicated service at the Internal Revenue Service, where she excelled as an Administrative Assistant from 1964 until her retirement. During her tenure, she contributed significantly to the Examination, Collection, and Criminal Investigations Divisions.
Beyond her career, Irene found joy in a variety of passions. She was an enthusiastic bowler and a gracious host, creating memorable gatherings at her beloved Pennsylvania lake house, where her culinary talents were always on full display. In her later years, she found quiet contentment in the challenge and beauty of jigsaw puzzles.
Irene was a woman of warmth and hospitality, whose home was always open to friends and family. She had an infectious laugh and smile.
She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Harry L. Douglass, her son Michael J. Douglass, and her infant daughter, Theresa Anne Douglass.
Irene will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, her love for her family, and her zest for life will be fondly remembered.
