Vera DeLorenzo

Vera DeLorenzo of Lakewood, NJ passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center. She was 95 Years old. Vera was born in Newark, and did clerical work in the admissions department at Montclair State University. She had many hobbies, which include knitting, playing bridge, watching sports, and cooking the best meatballs ever. She was even still driving. Vera was pre-deceased by her husband, James DeLorenzo. She is survived by her children, Dale Sauer, Jane Thompson and her husband Bill Gran, Joyce Leopaldi and her husband Anthony, and Kim DeLorenzo. She also leaves behind her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Dana Visconti, Brian Thompson, Erik Leopaldi, Jarred Leopaldi, Michael Leopaldi, Melody Visconti, Natalie Visconti, and Summer Leopaldi. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, from 8 am to 9:30 am at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral and Cremation Service, 1284 Broad St. in Bloomfield. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Ave, in Bloomfield. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Ave, Bloomfield, NJ 07003. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Guiding Eyes for the blind, a nonprofit organization, that provides guide dogs to people with vision loss.
