Obituary
Esther was born on October 28, 1931 in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of a farmer, and grew up on the farm with her six siblings. The farm grew vegetables, fruit, and tobacco, and had cows, horses, chickens, and pigs.
She married Luis Echevarria on October 20, 1950, and in 1952 came to New Jersey. They first lived in Newark, and later in Bloomfield. Esther and Luis had five children; Myrta, Esther, Luis, Robert, and Nancy. Esther went to work in a clothes factory doing hand sewing and finishing detail work. She learned and enjoyed sewing for herself. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises with her husband and family. She was also a great cook, and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a devout Catholic.
After Luis and Esther brought up their children, and they both retired, they returned to Puerto Rico to live. After her husband Luis passed away, she continued to live in Puerto Rico for four years. She then returned to New Jersey to live with her family.
Esther is survived by her five children, her daughter Myrta and husband John Thompson, her daughter Esther and her husband Hector Lopez, her son Luis and wife Bernadette Echevarria, her son Robert and wife Stacy Echevarria, and her daughter Nancy and her husband Carlos Rojas, 16 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
