Obituary
Richard M. Gans Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Richard M. Gans, of Hopatcong, peacefully entered into eternal life on February 17, 2016. He was 69. Richard was born in Englewood to the late William and Bernice Gans. Rich served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. He was the Supervisor of Video Tape Operations at HBO for 40 years, loved music, tinkering with electronics, and was a MR FIX IT. He always wanted to be involved in a conversation, and above all loved being with his family and friends. Richard was a truly special person that was always willing to lend a hand and do a favor for you. He was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Rich is survived by his loving wife Joanne, their beloved children Marc and his wife, Megan of Hackettstown, Jonathan and Adrienne Gans of Hopatcong, and a granddaughter Lilly. Friends and family are invited to the Byram Firehouse, 225 Rt. 206 in Andover, on Saturday February 20th from 12-4pm, for a memorial service, but as Richard wanted, a celebration of his life and to share memories. I had the privilege of working for more than 30 years with Rich at HBO. He was always someone I could go to for help with a seemingly unsolvable problem; his tenacious personality was such that he always found a way to solve it...even when others said it couldn't be done. He will always be remembered for his kindness and grace. <br>May the wonderful memories you have help get you through this very difficult time.

I work with Rich Gans for almost 40 years who's always very helpful in giving to any person we were both computer buffs so used to talk a lot about computers and software it was a good loyal family man you will definitely be missed

I will miss Rich. He was a friend. Brother like. I loved talking to him on the train about electronics and scifi shows. I loved visiting him at "the store" with his family.

Richie was such a familiar presence here in the studio. I will miss most of all his particular brand of wry humor - and that smile!I always enjoyed the time we shared so much in the 28 years we were co-workers. We'll all be the poorer in Richie's absence. My sincerest condolences to you all.
