Monica Gant-Chisolm

Monica Gant-Chisolm, of Irvington, NJ passed away on December 31, 2015 at the University Hospital in Newark. She was 37. Monica worked for Essex County as a juvenile detention officer for over 12 years. She leaves behind by her loving husband, Edward; her dear sons, Jahquel and Edward Jr., her cherished daughter, Kayla; her dear grandson, Jahquel Jr. She is also survived by her mother Cecilia Hernandez, her father, Preston Gant; her brother, Jose Rivera and her sister-in-law Ivette, her mother-in-law, Mahalia Chisolm, her father-in-law, Melvin Champion. Her sister, Ashley Gant passed away in 2000. There will be a visitation for Monica held on Wednesday, January 6th from 4-8pm at the Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, January 7th at 10:00 am, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, 620 Central Ave., Newark, NJ.
