MICHAEL J. POTTER, 59 Michael James Potter of Bloomfield NJ died in his home on August 10, 2015 after a long illness. A native of Staten Island NY, Mike was a graduate of Moore Catholic High School and was a drummer for the wedding band “Pegasus”. He joined the US Postal Service where he worked in building maintenance until his retirement. He is survived by his fiance Jacqueline Chang, a brother Edward Potter of Greentown PA, two sisters Marilyn Hansen of Roselle Park NJ and Carol Potter of Sterling VA, four nieces and two nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 15 10:00 am at St. Joseph the Carpenter RC Church 160 E 3rd Avenue Roselle NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of your choice in Michaels memory. Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Michael. My recollections of the Potter family go far back to the Redford Avenue days, and to the many significant, and less significant events which punctuated those days. Mike was a regular visitor to our home in those early days, and we shared our connection with St. Clare School and Church. (If my memory serves me well, Mrs. Potter won "the five hundred" in the early 1960's. This was the top prize of the St. Clare booster club, where local parishioners bought one dollar chances.) <br>Yes, the lives of the Iorio and Potter families did intertwine through the happy and sad events in those years. My brother Paul Iorio and Michael became lifetime friends, and they remained close throughout Michael's lifetime. Michael was best man at my brother's wedding and he did a wonderful job, delivering a heartfelt toast on that occasion.<br>We are thankful for the light which Michael, and the Potter family, brought to our lives. Our thoughts are with all of you who loved Michael.
