Obituary
With profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss, our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend, Willen Littles. She peacefully departed this life on December 22, 2024, at the age of 90. Willen Littles, formerly Willen Rembert, was born on September 1, 1934, in Bishopville, South Carolina. She was the eldest of ten children born to the late Willie Rembert and Allien Wesley Rembert. Willens life journey took her from the rural landscapes of South Carolina to the vibrant city of Brooklyn, New York. She began her career in domestic work before pursuing higher education, eventually earning her masters degree in social work. This accomplishment led her to a fulfilling career with the state of New York as a dedicated social worker. Willen served with the City of New York Social Services division for thirty-two years, a testament to her dedication and commitment, never missing a single day of work before her well-deserved retirement. Beyond her professional life, Willen was deeply committed to her community. She generously volunteered her time and civic duties to various causes, always striving to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Willen was united in holy matrimony to the late Charlie Littles, and together they built a family, blessed with four children. Willen had a zest for life and enjoyed simple pleasures. She found solace and inspiration in reading her bible, cherished her daily walks, and loved dancing to her favorite song, "Keep a Knocking" by Little Richard. She was a true social butterfly, known for her friendly nature and engaging conversations. Willen was an avid reader and writer, with a fondness for the color pink and a passion for social justice. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Virgle Littles, and three siblings: Johnnie Mae Rembert, Jacob Rembert, and James Rembert. Her legacy of love and kindness will be forever cherished by her surviving children: Charlene Littles of Bronx, NY, Vernon Littles of Aberdeen, MD, and Rosa Maben of Dallas, GA. She is also survived by her soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Patricia Vaughn of Fort Monmouth, NJ, and her dedicated cherished nurse, Queyenda (Yena) Salley of Browns Mills, NJ.
