Fred Rich

Fred Rich of Bloomfield passed away peacefully on Sunday May 11, 2014. Born in Shickshinny, PA, He lived in Newark before moving to Bloomfield in 1962. Fred was the owner of Fred Rich Truck and Trailer Company in Jersey City for many years before retiring. He served in the US Navy during WW 11 in the Pacific. He enjoyed tending to his garden, fishing and spending time with friends and family. Fred was the beloved husband and father of the late Ann (nee Hynes) Rich; father of the late Dorothy Rich; brother of the late Joseph and Elmer Rich. He is survived by his daughter Janet (nee Rich) Robertello He is also survived by his brother John Richey and sister Anna Blodget. He was the devoted and adored grandfather to Vincent, Jason and Shannon Messina and was the loving Pop Pop to Patrick & Dominick Messina Visitation at Frank Halpin's Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield on Thursday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. with prayer services at 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be on Friday at 10:00 am from the funeral home, followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, N.J.
