Obituary

Carol Ann Marshall, 74, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, following a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease.

Carol was born on January 10, 1951, in Glasgow, Scotland, to Ann Jane Rowbotham and James Marshall. From a young age, she demonstrated a deep sense of responsibility, compassion, and generosity—qualities that defined her throughout her life.

Carol was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She was a natural caregiver with a generous spirit, always placing the needs of others before her own. Known for her kindness, loyalty, and selflessness, Carol gave freely of her time, her resources, and her love. Her strength and compassion touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Amanda Barker, and her cherished granddaughter, Addisyn Patino.

Carol is also survived by her siblings and extended family:
Frances Smith, and her children, David Wallace and Linda Melillo (husband Nick);
Joseph Marshall and his wife Diana, and Joseph’s sons Shawn Marshall (wife Lisa) and Ryan Marshall (wife Francesca);
Brenda Wootton and her husband, Jeffrey, and Brenda’s daughter Nicola Stewart Atieh (Carol’s goddaughter) and her husband Dan Atieh; and Paul Marshall and his wife Donna, and their children, Brittani Vanderbeek (husband Taylor) and Brian Marshall; Linda's children, Desmond Munro (wife Chrissy), Gary Munro (wife Tammy), and Gerald Munro (wife Gina).

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Ann Jane Rowbotham and James Marshall; her sisters Annette Marshall and Linda Tyghe (husband Desi); and her nephew Colin Wallace.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield, NJ 07003.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 60 Byrd Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ 07003. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, in honor of her life and the strength she showed throughout her illness.

The family finds comfort knowing that Carol is now at peace—whole again, reunited with those she loved, free from pain, and surrounded by love.
