Obituary

Gerard was born on July 1, 1986 in Newark, NJ.  Gerard was raised in Newark.

He is survived by his mom Irene, his sister Deanna.  He was pre-deceased his father Sal, his grandparents Ray & Ellie Hahn, and his step-father John Mancini.

Gerard worked for 20 years for Stop & Shop bakery.  Music was close and dear to his heart. From a little boy he sang all the time.  As he got older he joined his father as a member of the St. Lucy’s male choir.  In 2017 Gerard won the Sinatra Idol in Hoboken.  In 2019 he performed with several fellow artist including Dean Martin at the Count Basie theater in Red Bank. He sang at the St. Gerard Feast, and it was there that he received the opportunity to sing weekly at Annabella’s Restaurant. Gerard was the happiest when he sang. He loved airplanes, reading and could repeat lines from any movie.

Gerard will be missed by everyone who met him, especially his Aunt Renee, Uncle Ronnie and cousins Louis & Emily.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family will be accepted for Gerard's final expenses.

Jerry was my coworker in South Orange Stop &Shop. He's on my YouTube playlist which is how I learned of his passing in a comment. Rest in peace Jerry, sing "All Or Nothing at All" for my mom.

Im saddened by learning of this. I've known Jerry since he was a young child who would go under the dining room table to belt out a song from his favorite crooner, Frank Sinatra. He shared that love with my Mom, Mary. When she passed, I gave Gerard her portrait of Ol'Blue eyes. I knew it went to the right home. God gave him a beautiful gift, I'm blessed to have heard him sing and not from under the table. God rest his soul, he joined those who he got his inspiration from, both talent and character.

Fellow winner of the Sinatra Sing-Off in Hoboken, to me, Jerry was the smoothest voice on planet Earth, and I was crystal certain he was headed for international fame as a result. We corresponded via the Internet a few times, but this was the year I was determined to meet this young man in person, and boom- he's drafted to the Great Beyond. Our loss, Heaven's supreme gain. I can't imagine the grief his friends and family are going through, as I am truly heartbroken over this with tears. Fly free, pal.
