Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Kevin Eriksen on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the age of 59.

Scott was employed for 40 plus years as a sales rep for Jaeger Lumber (formerly West Essex Building Supply Company) in Verona.

Outside of work, Scott enjoyed the hobby of building model airplanes, playing Golf, and the drums. Scott's love of drums began in his early teens; playing drums with "The First Inversion" and in the band, "Sinner". Scott went on to playing drums in the Bloomfield High School Senior Marching Band, and in the Drum and Bugle Corps as well. Scott's love of drums followed him throughout his life, and was recently therapeutic for him while rocking out, participating in front porch jams in Caldwell.

Scott became the leader of the action video game "Tron" in 1976. Many would come gather around him while he spent hours on the machine at an arcade in the "little center" on Broad Street in Bloomfield. An avid Bowler in his younger days, Scott came one strike shy of a perfect game.

The greatest love of Scott's life were his beloved children, Vaughn Michael and Amanda Catherine.

"Preceded in death" by his mother, Dolores Eriksen and brother Kjell B. Eriksen Jr., Scott is survived by his beloved children; son Vaughn and daughter Amanda Eriksen, his father, Kjell B. Eriksen Sr., sister Karen M. Eriksen, and sister-in-law Karen A. Eriksen, two nieces, three nephews, and several great nieces and nephews, along with an abundance of friends and customers who knew, loved, and appreciated Scott's good-natured heart and wit.

Although you've heard me say it numerous times throughout the years, Scott, it still bears repeating. You brought so much love into our lives and filled our hearts with so much joy - it is indescribable. If the family was at breakfast and you were not up or awake yet - we would actually miss you. We would even contemplate waking you up. And then when you did come out of your room (I can still hear you in your feet pajamas), you would get your eyeglasses from the shelf in the living room and walk into the kitchen with the biggest smile on your face. Your love of each new day was so infectious. You were the happiest little boy, Scott. Every day was a new adventure with you. Thank you for being my kid brother - who likes to kid. XO Kaki

One of my most cherished memories, Scott, are the adorable pet names you gave to those you loved; those who were nearest and dearest to your heart. And the nicknames you would create for your friends – and re-create right on the spot - depending on the situation or experience at the moment. I am going to miss your quick wit and playful sense of humor, Scott; especially your Monty Python scenes imitations. Heck, you had the entire storyline of King Arthur’s Quest for the Holy Grail memorized! You had a patient listening ear, Scott, and gave the best-ever, absolutely heartfelt, loving hugs. Although it is painful to say good-bye and I am missing you terribly, Scott, I take comfort in thinking that you are now with Mom and Kjell, watching over those of us mourning you, and will be waiting for us with your beautiful radiant smile and open arms. Thank you for a lifetime of memories, Quabs. You will always be my one and only Quabinator. I love you and will always be your “Quabette-ski-doodle-doo!” - Kaki
