Devin Tyler Vandenburg, age 28, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, passed away on April 30, 2026. Born on April 5, 1998, Devin was a devoted Information Technology Specialist who held a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and was known for his calm demeanor, empathetic nature, and thoughtful counsel. His radiant smile had the power to brighten any room he entered.

Devin was an avid gamer and enjoyed a variety of adventurous activities such as ziplining, ATV riding, and even riding a mechanical bull. He played tennis in high school and embraced the camaraderie of playing video games (Dungeons and Dragons, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Leagues of Legends, etc.) with his huge circle of friends. He loved traveling and cherishing time with family and friends, always approaching life with a spirit of adventure.

He is survived by his mother, Mursha Vandenburg (née Peters); his father, Vanrick Vandenburg; and his brother André Vandenburg; sister-in-law Kyle Swoyer, and their fur baby, Henny; his grandmothers, Ena Vandenburg and Iverene Peters; many beloved aunties, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Devin was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers.

His warmth, leadership, and kindness touched all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

I went to elementary school with Devin, he was the smartest kid in our class. Every class you would find Devin reading a new Harry Potter book or laughing with his big smile. I was blessed to almost have every grade/class with him, I would feel relief knowing that Devin was in my class a year after the next. There was a time in 5th grade where selected students received an advanced math packet, I really had no idea WHY ME, I was selected (math was my least favorite subject), but Devin - also a selected student, encouraged me and helped me understand and complete the packet. Every music class, Spring or Winter concert at Watsessing, we would always be in the same section or row and my parents loved that Devin was always smiling and enthusiastic next to me. He really made me look better on stage just because of the light that radiates from him. Although we grew apart in middle school and high school, Devin always greets you with a smile passing the hallway or you’ll find your self laughing suddenly because Devin’s laugh was so contagious. I just know he was so loved by his family and friends because he showed it everyday. I MISS YOU. LOVE YOU FOREVER MY FELLOW WILDCAT 🐅🐾

Devin, I honestly don’t even know where to start. You were one of the few people in high school that could make any bad day better just by being yourself. I met you during a time in my life where I really didn’t have a lot of friends and things at home were rough. I was definitely weird and annoying back then, but you never made me feel bad about it. You were one of the few people who always made me feel included and made every day a little lighter. We had biology together and used to eat lunch together all the time. To this day I still say you’re the only reason I passed that class even a little bit because science was never my thing, but you always tried to help me anyway. I think what I’ll remember most is how funny you were. I could be having the absolute worst day and you’d make some dumb joke, a funny face, or just say something ridiculous and somehow make me laugh. You had that kind of energy that just made people feel better being around you. Unfortunately we lost touch after high school, but I never forgot you or your kindness. I really wish I had gotten the chance to tell you how much those little moments meant to me and how much better you made my days back then. I hope you know you are missed and I hope you rest in peace.

I remember being a kid and going to family parties and hangouts and we would play video games. We were so young.I really wish all the cousins could hang out as adults. I can't even remember Devin's face without a smile on it. I'm glad that I can always remember his laugh and smile.

Devin’s laugh was so distinct, I still hear it in my head to this day! I only really got to know him during senior year of high school but I’m so grateful for our time together. He made Physics bearable and would often help me understand the work a bit better. I appreciated his patience! He was so kind and sometimes quiet but somehow always knew when to bust out a quick witted joke to lighten the mood. I’ll be praying for his family and close friends during this time. May his soul rest easy. 🤍

Even though Devin and I lost contact after high school graduation, I still have fond memories of him from the several classes we had together. ALL of my memories of Devin involve cracking jokes and uncontrollable laughter in the back of the classroom. Sure, teachers would periodically yell at us, but we didn't care. It made class tolerable for us. He was always upbeat and kind. My condolences to his family and close friends. Rest in peace Devin.
