Obituary

Gloria Joan Vogt Fulton, 89, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, at Mira Vie Assisted Living in Montville, NJ . A celebration of life service will take place on Saturday, July 25 at 10:00 at Bethany United Presbyterian Church (details below)

Born in Bloomfield at the Bloomfield Private Hospital, Gloria graduated Bloomfield High School in 1954 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in teaching from William Paterson Teacher’s College. She later received an early childhood education certificate from Kean College.

She taught at the Community School in Nutley and also worked as a medical assistant at the Eye Care Center in Bloomfield. She returned later to her first love of teaching, becoming the lead teacher at the Community Nursery School, where she taught for 15 years until her retirement.

Gloria was an active member of Bethany United Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield as a young child through adulthood. She was also a member and served as a deacon at Grace Presbyterian Church in Montclair for many years.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Allene Vogt, and her brothers, Richard Vogt and Kenneth Vogt.

She was married to Richard B. Fulton until 1978.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lawrence Fulton (Linda), Lisa Walter (Kip), and Jeffrey Fulton (Kristina) and her precious grandchildren, Lyrik, Kelly, Kathryn, Sarah, Lauren, and Christopher.

She was also a loving mother to the foster children in her care from 1970-1978.

Gloria, known to her grandchildren and others as GiGi, loved teaching, craft projects, gardening, and finding treasures at garage sales. She was kind and thoughtful, taking care to choose meaningful, thoughtful gifts for family and friends. She found joy in being a teacher, sharing her love of nature whether it be identifying leaves, releasing butterflies, hatching chicks from eggs, and so many other activities. She was kind and giving to her friends and coworkers.

Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life.

She was thoughtful, brave, and lived a life of faith.
