Janet Parsick

Janet Louise Parsick of Bloomfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026 at Job Haines Nursing Home in Bloomfield, NJ. She was born on February 1, 1936 in East Orange, New Jersey, fourth child of Gertrude and Roy Ball of Asheville, North Carolina, and predeceased by four siblings, Christine Aspen, Roy Ball Jr., Bettie Pillus, and Robert Ball. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Frank Joseph Parsick, and sons Scott Allen Parsick and Keith Edward Parsick. Over the course of her life, her angelic disposition ushered a lifelong journey of love, kindness, and devotion that touched everyone who had the privilege to know her.

Janet was an active member of Watchung Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield and deeply religious, which guided her conduct in relating with others in every way possible. She was an active member of the Scouting Community and served on the Mother’s Club of local Troop 23, Tamarack Council. Where, early on as a Cub Scout Den Mother, her exemplary values and work ethic so influenced all six (6) of her Cub Scouts that they would one day all achieve rank of Eagle Scout, to include both of her sons as well.

She attended East Orange High School until graduating in 1954, and then soon wedded her beloved husband on July 3rd that same year while on military leave of U.S. Army service. Over their 72 years of wonderful marriage her life’s focus was always on maintaining and upkeeping a loving household for her family. She worked early on at Von Hoffman Corporation in East Orange as a Publishing Assistant for the ‘Yellow Pages’ circulation and then McKesson Robain until birth of her first son in 1960.

She returned to work, only after raising her children, and was Executive Assistant to the President of American Leprosy Mission (ALM) for many years that followed. Completing her career as Executive Assistant to the District Manager of PNC Bank in Upper Montclair before retiring. Her incredible organizational skills, love of the English language, and passion for reading served her well over the course of her life, both professionally and personally.      

Over the course of her retirement, she and Frank traveled frequently in their beloved VW Westfalia ‘Pop-Up’ Camper. Her love of outdoors started with camping in the 1000 Islands each Summer while raising her children, and culminated in countless weekend rendezvous with VW Club friends up and down the East Coast until just a few years ago. As always, from Canada to Myrtle Beach, she endeared close and new dear friendships all along the way. Her and Frank’s love of music and theatre led to continuously visiting the Eisenhower Theatre at West Point with their lifelong friends to take in the plethora of shows and performances.      

Across her extended family of four siblings and 11 nieces and nephews, the love she shared was boundless. She was the heart and soul of the family and spent countless hours of time on the phone conferring and conversing with anyone who called and needed to talk. The fact that she was one of the most sincere and gifted listeners is largely the reason.

Despite her keen ability to read people’s hearts, her Christlike demeanor and commitment to her religious beliefs prevented her from ever talking badly about, or down to, anyone.  This respect for the dignity others led everyone who ever truly came to know her, to love her.
