Jennifer Eskin
May 29, 1983 - September 11, 2026
Obituary
Jennifer Marie Eskin, 43, passed away on September 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 29, 1983, in Newton, New Jersey, Jen grew up in the Scenic Lakes/Vernon area, attended Pope John High School and went on to Moravian College, where she played basketball and formed lifelong friendships.
A gifted athlete, Jen seemed able to do just about anything she tried. Basketball was her first love, but she was also an incredible snowboarder, loved fitness and staying active, and was a devoted Knicks, Jets and Mets fan. Really, as Jen would say, she loved “any good game” - if it was close and competitive, she was all in.
After college and many memorable chapters and friendships along the way, Jen made her way to New York City and built a career she was incredibly proud of as a union electrician with IBEW Local 3.
Jen later created her home and family in Hoboken and then Montclair/Bloomfield, where she and her wife, Katie, bought their first home, welcomed their beloved dogs Sophie, Mia and Winnie, and became parents to their son, Chase (“Chasey”). Their home became a gathering place for friends and family and the center of a life Jen deeply loved.
Jen was larger than life without ever needing to be the loudest person in the room. She was funny, blunt, honest, determined, fiercely loyal and completely authentic. She had a special way of making people feel comfortable being exactly who they were. Her beautiful smile lit up a room. Above all, she loved being Chase’s mom - protective, playful, consistent and endlessly finding little ways to surprise him.
Jen loved to live. She loved hiking, going for walks, working out, the beach, swimming, concerts, sports, great dinners, music, drinks, singing, and laughing with the people she loved. She was happiest on an adventure, whether it was a planned trip or simply piling Chase and the dogs into the car and deciding where the day would take them. Over the years, vacations and memories were made with all her family and friends. From Cape May, Long Beach Island, the Bahamas, Palm Beach, Florida road trips and Rocking Horse Dude Ranch as a youngster just to name a few…to a new Jersey Shore annual trip that her late father Ken started and too many farms, lakes and day trips to list… Jen had a special way of bringing everyone together for a good time.
Jen is survived by her wife, Katie Eskin; their son, Chase; their dogs, Sophie, Mia and Winnie; her beloved mother, Debora Behagg(Ahern) her beloved grandmother, Patricia Behagg; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Behagg; her grandfathers, James Ahern and Ralph Behagg; and her grandmother, Laura Marie Ahern (Novello).
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield, New Jersey, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m.
Jen will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield, New Jersey, on Saturday, September 19, at 12:00 noon, with a repast to follow at Bella Napoli, 1640 Broad Street, Bloomfield, New Jersey.
