Richard Schumacher

Richard George Schumacher, 79, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 at West Caldwell Care Center. He was born on December 16, 1943 at Mountainside Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cheryl, and their son Chad, as well as his mother Mildred Schumacher, his sister Nancy DeNaples and husband James, brother Jon Schumacher and wife Charlotte, as well as his sister-in-law Nancy La Corte, nephews Michael and Matthew La Corte, nieces Kristen and Kelly DeNaples, Kayla Schumacher, and Jacki Vybihal, husband Eric, and their son, Theo. He was predeceased by his father, Fritz, who passed in 2003. Rick is also survived by many other cousins, relatives, and loved ones, as well as his beloved dog Sparkles. Rick enlisted in the army and was stationed in Germany before he started working at State Farm insurance in the 1960s. He spent many years working there before retiring in 2006. He was an avid baseball fan and cheered for the Mets. Rick's visitation services will be conducted on Thursday, October 12th from 11am to 1pm at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please instead send memorial donations to the American Lung Association.
