Marcelino Susas (Family Man and Great Friend)

Marcelino “Celing” Susas age 89, formerly of Monroe Township and Bloomfield, NJ. passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 14, 2025, in Chino, California surrounded by family. Born on January 16, 1936 in Cebu, Philippines. Marcelino lived a full and happy life, devoted to family and friends.

He is survived by: his loving wife Concepcion “Thelma” Susas; his wonderful daughter Theta Susas Callaghan, and her husband Bob Callaghan, and their children, Rachel Callaghan Rattray, Ryan Jay Rattray Callaghan; his oldest son Marcelino “Mars” Susas, Jr., Mars' wife Anne Marie Susas, and their children, Nicole Soper, Juliann Susas, Emma Susas, and Maris Susas; and his youngest son, who he spent the last few years of his life with, Matthew Susas, and Matthew's wife Beth Susas, and their children, Gabrielle Susas and Mason Susas.

Marcelino inspired everyone in his life to dream, work hard, and dedicate time for family and friends. As a father, Marcelino journeyed to the United States alone to create a better life for his wife and children. As a grandfather, Marcelino remained young at heart as he loved to sing karaoke and dance alongside his grandchildren to create TikToks. Throughout the course of his life, Marcelino exemplified the meaning of being a family man and loving friend.

We will miss him immensely, but know that you are in a better place and will always be watching over family and friends.

We will celebrate his life and impact at a wake and funeral service in New Jersey. We invite his friends and family to join us at the wake to be held at Halpin – Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home on October 2, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral will be held at St Thomas the Apostle church in Bloomfield and he will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum in East Hanover on October 3, 2025.
